Step-by-step Guide

Materials:

  • Sport weight yarn in black, red, white, and cream
  • Crochet hook size D (3.25mm)
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle
  • Black safety eyes
  • Scissors

Crochet Vampire

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows per 4 inches in single crochet

Instructions:

Body and head:

  1. Make a magic ring with black yarn and crochet six sc into the ring. Do not join.
  2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc to form a round. (12 sc)
  3. Sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until the piece measures approximately 2 inches in diameter.
  4. Change to cream yarn.
  5. Sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat round 4 for eight rounds.
  6. Change to red yarn.
  7. Sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat round 7 until the piece measures approximately 3 inches in diameter.
  8. Stuff the head and body firmly with fiberfill.
  9. Dec in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat round 8 until six stitches are remaining.
  10. Fasten off and weave in the end.

Cape:

  1. With black yarn, chain 30.
  2. Sc in the second chain from the hook and each chain to the end. Chain 1 and turn. (29 sc)
  3. Sc in each sc across. Chain 1 and turn. Repeat round 3 for 13 rounds.
  4. Sc in the back loop of each sc across. Chain 1 and turn. Repeat round 4 for 1 round.
  5. Fasten off and weave in the end.

Legs:

  1. Make a magic ring with black yarn and crochet six sc into the ring. Do not join.
  2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc to form a round. (12 sc)
  3. Sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat round 3 for six rounds.
  4. Stuff the legs lightly with fiberfill.

  7. Repeat steps 1-6 to make the second leg.

Arms:

  1. With black yarn, chain 10.
  2. Sc in the second chain from the hook and each chain to the end. Chain 1 and turn. (9 sc)
  3. Sc in each sc across. Chain 1 and turn. Repeat round 3 for six rounds.
  4. Stuff the arms lightly with fiberfill.
  5. Dec in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. Repeat round 5 until three stitches are remaining.
  6. Fasten off and weave in the end.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 to make the second arm.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the cape to the back of the body, aligning the bottom edges.
  2. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
  3. Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
  4. Sew the safety eyes onto the face.
  5. Cut a small slit in the top of the head and stuff the vampire fangs with fiberfill. Sew the slit closed.
  6. Embroider has a mouth on the face.

The vampire amigurumi is complete!
