Let's transform yarn into blossoms together!

Flower

Creating a crochet flower is like painting with yarn, with each stitch adding a stroke of beauty to your fabric canvas. This crochet ornament pattern walks you through the mesmerizing process of crafting a delicate blossom, starting with a simple slip knot and culminating in a full, layered flower. The instructions are clear, allowing even beginners to produce a charming bloom effortlessly. With each round, the petals take shape, transforming yarn into an enchanting floral creation that adds a touch of nature's elegance to any project.

Making The Crochet Flower

Materials Needed

  • Crochet hook
  • Yarn of choice

Step-by-step pattern

  1. Create a Slip Knot: Wrap yarn around your finger twice, pull the first loop over the second one, and then pull it over your finger. Place the loop on your hook and tighten.
  2. Foundation Ring: Chain 4. Insert your hook into the first chain (next to the slip knot), catching one loop. Slip stitch to form a ring.

Round 1

  1. Chain 1 (this doesn't count as a stitch, just a setup).
  2. Make 7 single crochets inside the ring.
  3. To close the round, slip stitch into the first single crochet made.

Round 2

  1. Chain 1 (not counting as a stitch).
  2. Make two single crochets in each stitch around (you will have a total of 14 stitches).
  3. Count stitches to confirm there are 14, then slip stitch into the first single crochet to join.

Round 3 (Foundation for Petals)

  1. Chain 3 (counts as one double crochet).
  2. Chain 4 more (for a gap space).
  3. Skip 2 single crochets and double crochet into the third.
  4. Chain 4, skip 2 single crochets, and double crochet into the third.
  5. Repeat around.
  6. To finish, chain 4 and join with a slip stitch into the top of the starting chain 3.

How to Crochet a Flower

Creating the Petals (Round 4)

  1. Pull up on your working loop.
  2. Find the chain 3 space, insert your hook into the stitch right next to it, and pull the loop through.
  3. Work 12 double crochets around the chain 4 space.
  4. Secure the petal by catching the post of a double crochet from behind, yarning over, and pulling through all loops on the hook.
  5. Chain 3 and repeat for each petal around the ring.
  6. After finishing all petals, slip stitch to secure the last petal in place.

Adding Outer Layer of Petals (Round 5)

  1. Slip stitch into the open stitch next to the hook for positioning.
  2. Chain 3 (counts as double crochet) and chain 6 more for a bigger gap.
  3. Find the next petal, fold everything down, double crochet in the first of the two stitches.
  4. Repeat chain 6, find the first stitch of the next petal, double crochet.
  5. Continue around, and join with a slip stitch in the third chain of the beginning chain.

Final Outer Petals (Round 6)

  1. Pull up on the loop and fold the first round of petals down to see the stitches below.
  2. Work 16 double crochets around a chain 6 space.
  3. Secure each petal as before and repeat the process for all outer petals.
  4. After finishing the last petal, secure and fasten off, leaving a tail.
  5. Perform finger blocking to straighten and adjust petals for a more defined look.

And that completes your crochet flower pattern! Enjoy your beautiful creation.
